Every year, it seems like retailers and newscasters come up with new, more imaginative ways to avoid saying this most unspeakable word: Christmas. Funny how different it is in the news when comes Ramadan. They don't just say "Ramadan", nor even "the month of Ramadan". No! They go all out, with "the holy month of Ramadan", and they hammer it in hundreds of times a day everyday for over a month! Comes the Christmas season and there things change dramatically. Suddenly it's all "holiday" this and "festive period" that, and all kinds of other "season's greetings"! It's amazing the length people who dare not speak the name of The Savior of humanity will go to, to avoid saying His Name.
We have lost our faith, abandoned the benevolent protection of Christ, thought we could do better on our own. And we wonder why the world is spinning out of control?
As far as i'm concerned, the best way for a retailer not to sell me even one single Christmas gift is to wish me a "happy holiday", and i'll remember them for the rest of the year too. They can go to... well, you know, that other place, the one where Christ is not!
But enough with the ranting already, this is the most wonderful to time of the year after all, isn't it? So, to the few remaining Christians of the world, and to all mankind, i wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year 2008 A.D. Peace on Earth!
